Evan Davis, Post Truth – 11 October

Evan Davis presented his talk about his book to a packed Octagon auditorium on 11 October and then took some challenging questions from the audience.

Evan Davis is a well-known broadcaster, presenting the current affairs programme Newsnight on BBC 2, The Bottom Line on Radio 4 and Dragons’ Den on BBC 2. He was also a presenter on Radio 4’s The Today programme for six years and prior to that, he was the Economics Editor of the BBC.

Never has there been more concern about dishonesty in public life. From President Trump to the Brexit debate, fake news and low level dishonesty is rife. Drawing on behavioural science, economics, psychology and his knowledge of the media, Evan Davis insightfully examines the world of deception and spin with his trademark intelligence and wry humour and charts a route through the muddy waters of the post-truth age.

He ended by providing readers with a tool-kit to handle the kinds of deceptions we encounter every day, and charts a route through the muddy waters of the post-truth age.
