Spoken word from two of Sheffield’s finest performers. Safe Metamorphosisis the debut collection from rap psalmist, ‘mum’s house philosopher’, Hip-Hop artist and poet Otis Mensah, Sheffield’s first Poet Laureate.  Warda Yassin won the New Poets Prize in 2018 for her collection Tea with Cardamom. Her work beautifully combines her Somali and English background in vibrant, vivid poems.

Their poetry performances will be followed by a conversation with Magid Magid, former Lord Mayor of Sheffield and creator of the Sheffield Laureate role.  At this event Otis will pass the crown to Warda who will become the new Sheffield Poet Laureate.
