Lowborn – Kerry Hudson

Artwork Slide

Mon, 7 October 7:30pm

In conversation with Dr David Forrest

Kerry Hudson is proudly working class but she was never proudly poor. Always on the move with her single mother, she grew up in grinding poverty. Twenty years later, Kerry’s life is unrecognisable as a prizewinning novelist but she still often finds herself caught somehow between two worlds. In Lowborn Kerry revisits the towns she grew up in to discover what being poor means in Britain today and whether anything has changed.
