Monster Micro Fiction Competition

This competition marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Frankenstein. The ‘monster’ theme is open to interpretation but the story can only be 18 words. The judge is award winning flash fiction writer Tony Williams. The winning entry will be announced at the Writing Matters event and the writer will receive £100 of book tokens.

Competition Guidelines

  • Open from 1 September to anyone over the age of 14 in the UK
  • There is no limit on the number of entries individuals can submit
  • All entries must be exactly 18 words in length (excluding title and hashtag)
  • All entries must relate to the ‘monster’ theme
  • Entries can be sent in via Twitter @FictionMicro adding the hashtag #monstermicro
  • Entries can be emailed if preferred to
  • Entries may be retweeted
  • Closing date for entries – Monday 15 October at 18.00
  • To be judged by award-winning Flash Fiction author, Tony Williams
