The Adventures of Maud West, Lady Detective – Susannah Stapleton

Artwork Slide

Fri, 11 October 6:00pm

The enthralling true story of one of Britain’s first lady detectives. Maud West opened her London Detective Agency in 1905, sleuthing for some of society’s finest. Her exploits were world famous, but she had to hide aspects of her own identity to thrive in a class obsessed, male dominated world. With walk on parts by Dr Crippen, Dorothy L Sayers and Parisian gangsters, this is a portrait of a woman ahead of her time.

Susannah will be in conversation with Dr Katherine Ebury, Senior Lecturer in Modern Literature at the University of Sheffield.
